Homophones Lesson Plan Grade 3. Gather students together and show them a book featuring amelia bedelia. Write several lists of common homophones on the board such as ate and eight hare and hair pale and pail and flower and flour.
Third graders engage in a discussion of homophones with the teacher. Students then listen to a song identify homophones in the song and discuss their meaning and spelling. Have a student volunteer to use one of the words in a sentence and then have another volunteer to use the second word in the homophone pair in a sentence.
Have students take a few minutes to look at these sets of words and identify any patterns that they see.
Join to access all included materials. As the group performs the skit their classmates attempt to guess the homophone that is on display. Students will be able to demonstrate correct usage and spelling of different homophones. Students will be able to define homophones and give examples of different words that are considered homophones.
